  Members can bring several paper copies of their work in progress (WIP). For the first hour, we read aloud and handwrite critiques. No matter how new you are to writing, you have something to offer. Sometimes we have an impromptu brainstorm session. Often, we just fellowship. This smaller group is more conducive to individualized questions and story problem-solving.

  At the Alchemist, we encourage you to purchase a drink or snack to show our hosts that we are grateful for the use of their location.
  

  The coffee shop is bustling, so it’s a good idea to bring earbuds for private writing time. This Inklings will be available for critiques, conversation, word count sprints, and impromptu story problem solving—but we will focus a bit more on just writing. Look for a table with ICW on the reservation card.

  Inklings are regular, casual meetings which take place in multiple locations. This group meets the first and third Thursday of each month and currently meets at Royal Coffee.  

  Royal Coffee is located adjacent to The Fountain Square, in the eatery which houses Calle 75 and Rice Works. When we use public eating facilities, we encourage you to order food or drink to patronize the businesses.

  Back to School! Children's book author, Wendy Ann Mattox, will share with us her tips and experience for "Successful Author School Visits."

  It will include a template for an average author visit, what to bring, tips to keep students engaged, and promotional suggestions.

  There will be ideas applicable to all authors and writers regardless of their marketability in a school setting.
